Chicago Regional SAR is an all round canine SAR organization. This means we are trained to look for live subjects, like the child or alzheimer patient who wanders away from a family picnic, lost hunters and hikers in wilderness situation, potential suicide victims and any other person who is missing and maybe alive or deceased. We are also trained for human remains detection and can be called by police to investigate potentially buried bodies or look for drowning victims or human remains in collapsed structures like the gulf coast after the hurricane.

Some of our dogs also respond as part of the the Lake and McHenry Counties Structural Rescue Teams. When a building falls down they ask us to send in dogs to pinpoint people buried under the rubble so they can start the long process of rescue in the right place.

We do not answer the call of individuals or families because this could interfere in a police investigation or a search may have been called off for the safety of the searchers. If called by police, firefighters or emergency management agencies we respond and will answer as a team to all of Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
